Black History Month

As some of you might recall, back in February 2022, the Dismantling Racism Task Force (DRTF) released a series of blog postings entitled Did You Know? This informative series was written by former DRTF member Vann Evans, based on his research as the Audiovisual Archivist with the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources’ Division of The State Archives of North Carolina. In celebration of Black History Month, members of the current DRTF have decided to re-run these articles each week in our WRPC eNews. For those of you who read them the first time, it will give you a chance to review and perhaps probe more deeply into the lives of Alfred Stokes, George E. Davis, Dorothy Counts, and Eva Clayton. For those of you who missed them, it will give you another chance to learn about these amazing people and their many contributions. As before, we “hope to celebrate the joys of their culture, past, present and future, and to hear their concerns as we reach out into the world beyond ourselves to unite as one people of God.” So, please enjoy an encore reading of West Raleigh's first four "Did You Know" articles.
